On Friday 23rd September, following the violent events at Evergreen, a delegation of Aurovilians met with the Collector. One of the Aurovilians present reported that the Collector immediately called the Revenue Divisional Officer (RDO) to pass an order to maintain status quo on the ground, due to a law and order problem, until the matter is cleared by the courts. He requested that the case be expedited and the decision taken urgently. The Tahsildar was also present at the meeting.
On Saturday 24th September, the RDO came on site at Evergreen. He spoke with Mr PKS and his henchmen, asking them to pause their work, and said that on Monday 26th September he will issue a status quo order to avoid any further developments for the time being.
We hope this will secure Auroville lands and residents until the courts have given their verdict.
