The illegally appointed by the secretary’s office so-called working committee has addressed the community in an announcement which states that the Aurovilian member of the bona fide working committee who has recently been obliged to leave India after having received a leave India notice is no more part of the Register of residents, a decision that has been taken arbitrarily by the secretary’s office and that again goes against the processes, rules, and regulations of Auroville not to mention the very spirit of Auroville. Here is the answer from the bona fide working committee:
On the recent Auronet announcement by those impersonating the Working Committee
Dear Community,
Yesterday there was a shocking post on Auronet about Mael, signed by Anu, Arun, Joseba, Partha, Selvaraj, Srimoyi and Tine.
We would like to remind you all that Admission and Termination of residents in the Register of Residents (and from the Master List) is the exclusive prerogative of the Residents’ Assembly as per the Auroville Foundation Act, 1988 (Section 19(2)(a) ) and the Auroville Admission and Termination Regulations, 2020. Therefore, the Secretary and the individuals calling themselves the ‘Working Committee’, which were not selected by the RA, cannot make this decision according to the law and to our internal guidelines and mandates. This is a clear case of misuse and abuse of power.
As there is no attachment or link in the post we do not know what information was sent by the Office of the Secretary to be conveyed to the residents as stated in the post.
We strongly condemn the shameful and groundless actions of these residents against a youth of Auroville. We have deep sadness and regret for one more case of loss of community value and lack of respect for any basic principle of human interaction.
We are taking the matter forward and will keep the community informed as and when more information is available.
Sincerely,
Your Working Committee
Aravinda, Bharathy, Chali, Hemant, Mael (TOS), Sauro, Valli
