Despite the Judgement of the Madras High Court dated 12.08.2022 and the letter addressed by the bona fide Working Committee to the group that has taken over the Working Committee and to the Secretary of the Governing Board, the concerned persons are not complying with the same and ensure that the office and records, email and accounts are restored to the legitimate Working Committee of the Residents’ Assembly of Auroville.
The Working Committee has sent a message to the community regarding the NGT report and the roads being dismantled by the Secretary:
WCom: About road works and NGT
Dear Community Members,
The report from the Joint Committee established by the National Green Tribunal is presently circulating. Observations and a response to this report are being prepared by a team of Aurovilians and the next hearing is scheduled on the 29th August. Meanwhile we urge everyone to stay calm and not to react to any provocation, but to continue to witness and document.
In the meantime, we have received word that the Secretary has filed an appeal in the Supreme Court against the April ruling of the NGT. More information will follow soon.
Regarding the work on the existing sections of road that are allowed on the basis of the NGT ruling, there are several concerns about safety, proper access and transparent information.
The Working Committee has expressed these concerns in writing to the Secretary of the Auroville Foundation, the CPWD at all levels and other relevant authorities.
